IPL 2024: [WATCH] Will Jacks Dismisses Travis Head In The Opening Over

In the showdown between the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), all-rounder Will Jacks claimed the wicket of Travis Head during the initial over of the second innings.

This early success is likely to boost the confidence of the Faf du Plessis-led team as they strive to protect their 207-run target at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Thursday, April 25th.

Travis Head, who was in great form, entered as the substitute player to make an impact in the run chase, expected to perform well with Abhishek Sharma against the struggling RCB bowling attack.

Despite this, the off-spinner maintained a tight grip on the game from the start, making it difficult for the left-handed batters to score freely. With just three runs scored off the first five deliveries, Head became impatient and attempted a forceful shot to end the over quickly.

However, the slower delivery unexpectedly caught the edge of his bat as he tried to hit it towards the leg side. The ball was hit behind square on the off-side, and Karn Sharma made the catch at short third man.

Head had to leave after scoring just one run from three deliveries.

Will Jacks’ early success was short-lived, as Abhishek Sharma challenged him in the second over. Sharma, the all-rounder, gave away 20 runs, including two sixes and a four, providing SRH with the momentum they needed after an initial setback.

Travis Head hit a century against RCB in their previous match at the Chinnaswamy Stadium

Since making his debut for SRH against the Mumbai Indians (MI), the left-handed batter has wreaked havoc this season.

In an earlier match this season at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, where SRH set the highest total in the competition’s history (287/3), Head scored 102 runs off 41 balls, including nine fours and eight sixes.

Currently, despite losing both their openers within the first four overs, SRH are still performing well in the powerplay. They are at 41-2 after 4.1 overs, with Aiden Markram and Nitish Reddy at the crease.
