IPL 2024: List Of Players Injured, Ruled Out Of The Upcoming Tournament

The Indian Premier League (IPL) caravan is set to return as the 2024 season kicks off on March 22 with the Chennai Super Kings taking on the Royal Challengers Bangalore in Chennai. The Super Kings defeated the Gujarat Titans in the last season at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

The first phase of the upcoming tournament was announced last month by the IPL governing council. The tournament will be divided into two phases as it clashes with the 2024 Indian General Elections. The schedule for the second phase will be announced soon. Ahead of the tournament, several franchises have been dealing with injury issues to their main players, while some players have pulled out of the tournament.

In this article, we take a look at the injured players list, and also players who have been ruled out of the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) season.

Gujarat Titans

Mohammed Shami underwent a successful heel surgery last month. He was declared unavailable by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Secretary Jay Shah recently. The Gujarat Titans are yet to announce his replacement.

Rajasthan Royals

Prasidh Krishna also underwent surgery on his left proximal quadriceps tendon last month. In a press release by the BCCI, they confirmed that the pacer has been ruled out of the tournament. The franchise is yet to announce his replacement.

Lucknow Super Giants

Mark Wood has pulled out of the IPL 2024 season to manage his workload ahead of the T20 World Cup in June and a home summer. The Super Giants named Shamar Joseph as Wood’s replacement for the upcoming season.

Chennai Super Kings

Devon Conway is unlikely to feature in the first leg of the tournament. He suffered a thumb injury recently during New Zealand’s T20I series at home against Australia last month. He is likely to be sidelined for eight weeks.

Kolkata Knight Riders

Gus Atkinson also withdrew from the 2024 IPL to manage his workload. He was signed by the franchise for INR 1 crore last year. Sri Lankan pacer Dushmantha Chameera, who went unsold at the auction, will join the franchise at a reserve price of Rs. 50 lakh as Atkinson’s replacement.

Jason Roy pulled out of the IPL 2024 due to personal reasons. He will be replaced by Philip Salt in the Kolkata Knight Riders squad.
