Former cricketer MSK Prasad has been appointed as the strategic consultant by the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL). He will be playing a vital role in providing essential guidance to the franchise across a spectrum of critical domains. The franchise released a statement announcing MSK Prasad’s appointment.
MSK Prasad will join the Lucknow Super Giants in the Indian Premier League as the Head of Talent Search and talent development. The franchise expressed that Prasad’s experience in cricket operations will be valuable to them. In the statement released by the Lucknow Super Giants, they wrote,
“Prasad brings with him a wealth of experience and a stellar track record in cricket operations, coupled with a passion that has driven him to remarkable achievements in both national and international arenas.”
“His journey is marked by a range of accomplishments that span from representing the Indian National Cricket Team to steering the operations of prominent cricket associations; all of which will bring valuable insights and experience to our organization,” they added.

MSK Prasad represented Team India in Test and ODI formats between 1998 to 2000. Recently, he served as the Chief National Selector of the Indian men’s cricket team. His tenure with the team ended in March 2020. The former wicket-keeper batter’s appointment with the Lucknow Super Giants comes after they signed Justin Langer as their head coach. The former Australian cricketer will be replacing Andy Flower in the role.
Lucknow Super Giants’ performance in IPL 2023
The Lucknow Super Giants pulled off a great performance in the 2023 Indian Premier League. They qualified for the knockouts of the tournament in their second consecutive season. They finished third on the points table with seventeen points from fourteen matches, with eight wins. However, their journey in the season came to an end in the Eliminator, where they lost to the Mumbai Indians by 81 runs.
Talking about individual performances for the Lucknow Super Giants, Marcus Stoinis was their leading run-scorer. He finished the season with 408 runs at a strike rate of 150.00. Kyle Mayers also performed well in the season, smashing three fifties. Ravi Bishnoi and Yash Thakur were the pick of the bowlers for them. Bishnoi took 16 wickets, while Yash finished with eleven in the season.
