IPL 2024: Ravindra Jadeja’s Caption On A Memorable Photo With MS Dhoni Denies Rumors Of A Rift Within CSK

Chennai Super Kings all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja reminisced about the iconic moment with captain MS Dhoni from the franchise’s title-winning match last season. CSK emerged victorious in the IPL 2023 final against Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad, securing their fifth title.

The moment gained widespread attention not only because of Dhoni’s gesture towards Jadeja after he hit the title-winning boundary but also because it silenced all rumors of discord within the CSK dressing room.  Jadeja reposted the image, standing in front of it and adding a memorable caption to it.

CSK’s successful campaign was overshadowed by reports suggesting a potential rift between Jadeja and Dhoni. Speculations had circulated since the all-rounder was relieved of his captaincy duties, with the former India skipper reassuming leadership.

During the 2023 season, rumors intensified following a heated exchange between the two after a match against Delhi Capitals. After the incident, both Jadeja and his wife shared cryptic messages on X (previously Twitter). In response, CSK posted a team photo, conspicuously omitting the Indian star.

However, following the IPL 2023 final, a heartening moment for CSK fans occurred when Dhoni and Jadeja embraced each other after the title victory, with the captain lifting the latter.

This moment, which went viral last season, was a source of relief for fans. Jadeja reposted the image prior to the beginning of CSK’s IPL 2024 campaign, describing it as a “super special moment.”

CSK will commence the 17th season of the IPL on March 22 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, facing Royal Challengers Bangalore in their opening match. However, Chennai has been plagued by several injuries. Opener Devon Conway and fast bowler Matheesa Pathirana will be absent for the first half of the season due to injuries.

Conway underwent thumb surgery after being injured during the T20I series against Australia at home earlier this year, while Pathirana, who impressed for CSK last year and became Dhoni’s go-to bowler in the death overs, suffered a hamstring injury during the recent white-ball series against Bangladesh.

Additionally, Bangladesh fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman, expected to serve as Pathirana’s backup, was stretchered off the field during the third ODI against Sri Lanka in Chattogram on Monday due to severe cramps.
