Chennai Super Kings will face Royal Challengers Bengaluru in a virtual knockout match to be played at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru on 19th May 2024. Robin Uthappa believes that MS Dhoni can shock everybody by playing IPL for CSK beyond the ongoing season.
MS Dhoni handed the responsibility of captaincy to Ruturaj Gaikwad before the IPL 2024 started. CSK is currently at 14 points and needed a win to qualify for the playoff stage directly. The five-time Champion CSK must ensure that they do not lose to RCB by a big margin.
He has come lower down the order and has played some important knocks that helped CSK to win matches. Dhoni showed his batting prowess coming in the death overs and putting enough pressure on bowlers with an aggressive style of play. He has scored 136 runs from 13 matches so far at a strike rate of 226.67 with the best score of 37 not out against Delhi Capitals.
Chennai Super Kings will look to win against RCB and qualify as the fourth team to make it into the playoff stage.
“Coming to CSK, is this MS’s last run? I don’t think so, personally, I don’t think so. But, do they want to spoil RCB’s party? Definitely. Ruturaj, I think, would want to get to the knockout stage in his first season as captain. That will be a huge confidence booster for him and for CSK. It’s one for the long run. Let’s see where that goes,” Uthappa said.
“Well, I have played for both sides, I am somewhere in the middle. RCB, after the way they have bounced back from the way they started, you want them to kind of comeback. A lot depends on the toss there,” Uthappa added.
Exciting Contest On Cards Between RCB and CSK
RCB made a strong comeback winning the last 5 matches after a disappointing start to the season with only 1 win out of the first 7 matches. Kohli and Co would be looking to provide an excellent game of cricket and win with a certain margin for qualifying for the playoff stage which would be a great comeback.
On the other hand, Chennai Super Kings has been hot and cold as they missed the services of key players. They would look to win directly and qualify for another playoff in their IPL history.
