MS Dhoni, the former captain of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and India, always receives a hero’s welcome whenever he plays in the Indian Premier League (IPL). This was no different on Friday (April 19), as fans greeted him with enthusiastic cheers when he walked out to bat against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Ekana Cricket Stadium.
Dhoni, known for his remarkable performances, lived up to the expectations of his fans. Coming out to bat in the 19th over, he continued his exceptional form in the IPL. The experienced wicketkeeper-batsman smashed an unbeaten 28 runs off just nine balls, at a remarkable strike rate of 311.11.
His innings included two sixes and three boundaries, contributing significantly to CSK’s total score. Sasha, the wife of Quinton de Kock, posted a screenshot from her smartwatch as Dhoni stepped onto the field. She captioned her Instagram story:
“When MS Dhoni comes out to bat.”
The noise was loud enough to make ears hurt for a while or even damage them permanently.
“Loud environment – sound levels hit 95 decibels. Just 10 minutes at this level can cause temporary hearing loss. Repeat long-term.”
Dhoni has been playing exceptionally well this year. Recently, he scored 20 runs in just four balls against Mumbai Indians, and his team won by the same margin. He also scored an unbeaten 37 runs off 16 balls against Delhi Capitals. What’s interesting is that he hasn’t been out yet this season.
MS Dhoni’s efforts go unrewarded as LSG outshine CSK by 8 wickets in IPL 2024

Ajinkya Rahane and Moeen Ali contributed 36 and 30 runs, respectively. Krunal Pandya was LSG’s top wicket-taker with figures of 2/16, supported by Mohsin Khan, Yash Thakur, Ravi Bishnoi, and Marcus Stoinis, who took one wicket each.
In response, LSG had a strong start with KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock sharing a 134-run partnership for the opening wicket. Rahul scored 82 off 53 balls, while de Kock scored 54 off 43 deliveries.
Nicholas Pooran and Marcus Stoinis remained not out on 23 (12) and 8 (7) respectively, guiding the team to victory. Matheesha Pathirana and Mustafizur Rahman took one wicket each for the Super Kings.
