Lucknow Super Giants’ captain, KL Rahul, and Chennai Super Kings’ captain, Ruturaj Gaikwad, were both fined Rs 12 lakh each because their teams took too much time to bowl in their Indian Premier League match in Lucknow. The match happened at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, and Lucknow Super Giants won by eight wickets against Chennai Super Kings.

This was the first time this season that either team broke the rules about how fast they should bowl, so both captains got fined.

“KL Rahul, who leads Lucknow Super Giants, got fined because his team was slow in bowling during Match 34 of the IPL 2024 against Chennai Super Kings at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow,” the IPL said.

The IPL also said, “Ruturaj Gaikwad, the captain of Chennai Super Kings, got fined because his team was slow in bowling during Match 34 of the IPL 2024 against Lucknow Super Giants at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow.”

In the match, KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock, the opening batsmen for Lucknow Super Giants, played well, each scoring more than fifty runs. They helped their team win comfortably against Chennai Super Kings. Chennai Super Kings batted first, and Ravindra Jadeja played a good innings, scoring 57 runs without getting out.

Then Moeen Ali (30 runs off 20 balls) and Mahendra Singh Dhoni (28 runs off 9 balls) hit many sixes, helping Chennai Super Kings reach a total of 176 runs for the loss of six wickets. In response, KL Rahul (82 runs) and Quinton de Kock (54 runs) played excellently, making a partnership of 134 runs, which is the highest for any wicket at the Ekana Stadium.

This helped Lucknow Super Giants score 180 runs for the loss of 2 wickets in 19 overs. This win helped Lucknow Super Giants recover from two losses in a row and strengthen their position in the IPL standings. However, Chennai Super Kings, who had won two matches before this, suffered their third loss in this IPL season.
