Virat Kohli achieved the feat of becoming the first Indian player to win the Orange Cap twice. Royal Challengers Bengaluru had a horrible start to the tournament, losing 7 matches out of 8. Virat Kohli looked in sublime touch putting pressure on the bowlers with his aggressive style of batting. He kept the pressure on bowlers where other batters struggled for rhythm.

The turnaround started for RCB when they won 6 matches in a row and qualified for the playoff stage with a stunning win over Chennai Super Kings. His performance stood out with aggressive intent against the spinners maintaining a healthy strike rate and not allowing the bowlers to settle.

Kohli ended the tournament with 741 runs from 15 matches (15 innings) including with 1 century and 5 half-centuries to his name. His best score in the tournament was 113 not out against RR at Sawai Man Singh Stadium, Jaipur. Despite his efforts, Royal Challengers Bengaluru suffered a six-wicket loss.

It was a superb performance by Virat Kohli in the entire tournament going at a strike rate of 154.69. Royal Challengers Bengaluru lost in the eliminator against RCB. He looked impressive during that match with 33 but could not go big. They lost the match by 4 wickets.

Sachin Tendulkar was the first Indian to win the Orange Cap award. He won the prestigious cap during the 2010 edition for Mumbai Indians. Sachin scored 618 runs from 15 matches. Robin Uthappa made a huge contribution for the Kolkata Knight Riders with 660 runs from 16 matches (16 innings) and helped KKR win their 2nd title.

KL Rahul grabbed the Orange Cap award for scoring 670 runs from 14 matches for Punjab Kings in the 2020 edition. Punjab Kings could not qualify for the playoff stage. Ruturaj Gaikwad scored 635 runs from 16 matches (16 innings) and helped CSK win the title in the 2021 edition. Shubman Gill produced a superb performance with 890 runs from 17 matches (17 innings) helping Gujarat Titans qualify for the finals of IPL 2023.

Virat Kohli Had a Sensational Season in 2016

Virat Kohli led from the front with a brilliant season in 2016. He made 973 runs from 16 matches (16 innings). His performances during the 2016 edition were brilliant including 4 centuries and 7 half-centuries to his name at a strike rate of 152.03.

Due to his superb performances, RCB reached the finals of IPL 2016 but could not cross the line losing to SRH. Virat Kohli won the Orange Cap award for his superb performance with the best score of 113. He was in sublime during that year which helped him qualify for the finals.
