Hardik Pandya has faced sensational criticism in recent months since being named the new skipper of the Mumbai Indians for the IPL 2024, taking over from the legendary Rohit Sharma. Fans booed him during the Mumbai Indians’ match against the Gujarat Titans at the massive Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, which they lost by six runs.

On Wednesday, March 27, Mumbai suffered their second consecutive loss in IPL 2024, this time against the Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad, by 31 runs. A video capturing fans throwing bottles, shoes, buckets, and other items at a large screen when Hardik Pandya appeared for an interview has gone viral on social media.

Mumbai Indians chose to field first, but their bowlers faced a tough challenge from Travis Head during the powerplay. The Australian debutant hammered 62 runs off 24 balls. Although Mayank Agarwal struggled, Abhishek Sharma’s splendid innings of 63 runs off 23 balls at No. 3 provided a boost for Sunrisers.

After a strong start by two left-handed batters, Heinrich Klaasen and Aiden Markram, both from South Africa, teamed up to score 116 runs together. Klaasen made 80 runs without getting out, while Markram scored 42 runs without getting out.

This helped Sunrisers Hyderabad reach a total of 277/3 in 20 overs, which was more than the previous highest score in the tournament. Mumbai Indians tried to chase this big target of 278 runs. Ishan Kishan scored 34 runs quickly, giving Mumbai a good start.

Rohit Sharma, Naman Dhir, and Tilak Varma played aggressively to keep Mumbai in the game, but despite Varma’s highest score of 64 runs, Hyderabad won by 31 runs in the end.
