Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) had a stellar performance with the bat in Match 15 of the Indian Premier League 2024 (IPL 2024) when they set an imposing total of 181/5 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) after opting to bat first. Wicketkeeper-batsman Quinton de Kock led the charge with an outstanding innings of 81 runs off 56 deliveries, featuring eight boundaries and five maximums.
De Kock found valuable support from Nicholas Pooran, who remained unbeaten on 40 runs from just 21 balls, including one boundary and five sixes. Pooran’s onslaught, particularly against Reece Topley in the 19th over, was remarkable, culminating in a massive six that soared 106 meters, landing on the roof of the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

His aggressive approach continued in the final over against Mohammed Siraj, where he hammered consecutive sixes, contributing significantly to LSG’s 33-run haul in the last two overs and pushing their total beyond the 180-run mark.
Earlier in the innings, De Kock and KL Rahul provided a solid foundation, stitching a 53-run partnership for the opening wicket in just 33 deliveries. Despite Rahul’s departure, De Kock sustained the momentum and combined effectively with Marcus Stoinis to add another vital 56 runs off 30 balls. Meanwhile, Mayank Yadav’s fiery spell saw him dismantle the RCB middle order, claiming three crucial wickets and aiding LSG in defending their formidable total.
De Kock’s consistent performances, including his second consecutive half-century, played a pivotal role in LSG’s triumph. Although Rahul, returning as the team’s captain, could only manage a modest 20 runs, Pooran’s explosive innings, particularly in the face of a challenging pitch at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, proved instrumental in propelling LSG beyond the 180-run mark.
Overall, LSG’s impressive batting display, led by De Kock and supported by Pooran, set the stage for their victory against RCB, marking their second consecutive win and handing RCB their second successive defeat at their home ground.
