Nicholas Pooran, the standout player for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), showcased brilliance on the field against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on April 2. He executed a run-out, dismissing Mayank Dagar, further complicating the hosts’ chase.
In the second-to-last over delivered by Yash Thakur, Mahipal Lomror miscued a shot, landing the ball in an unguarded area. Lomror initiated a run, leading to Mayank Dagar losing his footing and slipping while attempting a quick second run.
Nicholas Pooran executed a rapid pick-up-and-throw, delivering an exceptional direct hit at the striker’s end. With Dagar slipping, his chances of returning in time diminished, adding another setback to the Royal Challengers’ hopes.

Dagar is recognized for his capacity to strike powerful shots and could have offered a significant partnership with Mahipal Lomror. Hence, Pooran’s outstanding fielding maneuver held even greater significance within the match.
The West Indian player further influenced the game with catches to dismiss Lomror and Siraj, ultimately sealing the victory for his team.

Nicholas Pooran entered the batting crease at a crucial moment when RCB was starting to regain momentum in the first innings. With the Super Giants aiming for a strong finish to surpass the 180-run mark, Pooran delivered exactly that.
The left-handed batsman smashed three consecutive sixes off Reece Topley, followed by two more in the final over off Mohammed Siraj, ultimately ending with an unbeaten 40 from 21 deliveries. Despite the achievable target of 182, the hosts continually lost wickets at regular intervals.
Once again, young Mayank Yadav claimed the Player of the Match accolade for his outstanding figures of 3/14. RCB faced their third defeat in four matches in IPL 2024, losing the game by 29 runs.
