Phil Salt Smashes Two Huge Sixes Off Lockie Ferguson

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) opener Phil Salt provided his team with the perfect start by taking on Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) fast bowler Lockie Ferguson in their clash during Match 36 of IPL 2024 at Eden Gardens on Sunday, April 21.

While RCB managed to contain Sunil Narine initially, Salt ensured that KKR didn’t lose momentum. He struck four boundaries and two sixes off Ferguson, leaving the bowler struggling to find a response to the onslaught.

Lockie Ferguson attempted variations in his deliveries and adjusted his line and length. Yet, Phil Salt effortlessly dispatched every ball with confidence.

Here’s how the onslaught unfolded:

The decision to introduce Ferguson into the attack didn’t yield the desired results for captain Faf du Plessis, particularly when Yash Dayal managed to generate some swing in his initial over.

Phil Salt’s explosive batting provides KKR with an early advantage in the powerplay

Phil Salt’s innings ended at 48 runs off 14 balls, as he was caught by Rajat Patidar off Mohammed Siraj’s bowling. The English opener attempted to hit a delivery from his pads over square leg but couldn’t generate enough power and height. RCB gradually made their way back into the match with the dismissals of Sunil Narine and Angkrish Raghuvanshi.

However, Salt’s rapid innings ensured that KKR still had 75 runs on the board after the powerplay despite losing three wickets. KKR currently has Venkatesh Iyer and captain Shreyas Iyer at the crease, and they may opt to consolidate their position to lay a foundation for big-hitters like Andre Russell and Rinku Singh.

RCB understands the importance of taking regular wickets as Kolkata possesses depth in batting and can set a formidable total with the strong start they’ve had.
