Chennai Super Kings youngster Rachin Ravindra pulled off a stunner in the season opener against the Royal Challengers Bangalore on Friday, March 22 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. His breathtaking effort sent the Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Faf du Plessis back to the pavilion.

The Royal Challengers Bangalore won the toss and opted to bat first. They got off to a cracking start as Faf du Plessis took on the Chennai Super Kings bowlers. They quickly raced to 37 runs off the first four overs. However, an outstanding catch by Rachin Ravindra pushed them on the back foot.

The incident took place in the fifth over when Mustafizur Rahman came on to bowl. He was smashed for a boundary by Faf du Plessis off the second delivery. However, he made a comeback to send the Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper home. Rahman took the pace off the delivery and Faf du Plessis went for a drive. He got the toe end of the bat and the ball skewed towards the deep backward point. Rachin Ravindra ran in and completed a brilliant catch. Faf du Plessis had to walk back for 35 runs from 23 deliveries.

Rachin Ravindra makes his IPL debut

New Zealand cricketer Rachin Ravindra earned an IPL debut for the Chennai Super Kings in the 2024 Indian Premier League season opener against the Royal Challengers Bangalore. He was signed by the INR 1.8 crore at the auctions. Along with Rachin Ravindra, Sameer Rizvi and Daryl Mitchell also made their debut for the Chennai Super Kings in the match.
