Mumbai Indians’ opening game jinx continues

The Mumbai Indians lost their opening match of the 2024 Indian Premier League on Sunday, March 24 against the Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad. They failed to chase down 169 runs, falling short by six. Dewald Brevis and Rohit Sharma scored 46 and 43 runs respectively in the match. However, their effort wasn’t enough to take their team home. Mumbai Indians seemed to be in a good position by the end of the 15th over. However, they lost their way after Dewald Brevis’ dismissal.

“We backed ourselves to chase those 42 runs but it was one of those days when we see the score quite less compared to what it could have been in five overs, I think we lost a little bit of momentum there,” said Mumbai Indians skipper Hardik Pandya following the loss at the post-match presentation.

Sai Sudarsan won the Player of the Match award for Gujarat Titans. He scored 45 runs off 39 deliveries, with three boundaries and a six. Meanwhile, the Gujarat Titans’ bowling attack also came together in the match. Azmatullah Omarzai, Umesh Yadav, Spencer Johnson and Mohit Sharma took two wickets each.
