Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) showcased their splendid performance by delivering a crushing victory against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 80 runs at Eden Gardens on Thursday. The home side captain, Ajinkya Rahane, led the way with a competitive 200/6, thanks to fifties from Venkatesh Iyer and Angkrish Raghuvanshi, whilst SRH, in turn, were bowled out for just 120, courtesy of the combined bowling efforts of KKR.
Venkatesh Iyer: The Game-Changer
Venkatesh Iyer was the catalyst for KKR’s win. The left-hander- in and out of the team- put up a match-winning performance, with 58 runs in 30 balls. Battered with 5 fours and 3 sixes, he took the SRH bowlers to task. His partnership with Rinku Singh was another big push to give KKR a good score. The knock just proved how much of a finisher he is, and KKR would want Iyer to keep doing it for them in the season.
Angkrish Raghuvanshi-The Young Gun

Angkrish Raghuvanshi, the 20-year-old opener, played a matured knock of 56 runs off 41 balls to set the tone for KKR’s innings. His partnership with captain Ajinkya Rahane was crucial in stabilizing the innings after the early loss of Sunil Narine and Quinton de Kock. Raghuvanshi’s knock was laced with 6 fours and 2 sixes, as he showed great composure and skill against the SRH bowlers. His performance is a great sign for KKR, as they look to build a strong team for the future.
Vaibhav Arora-The Bowling Star
Vaibhav Arora, the KKR seamer, was the pick of the bowlers for the hosts. He picked 3 for 25 and went through their top-order like a knife through butter. This helped set up the KKR win with his sheer pace and accuracy. His scalp included many greats, that of Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma, leaving SRH at 15/3 in the third over. A promising sign for KKR in the hunt for a good season with a strong bowling unit.
