IPL 2025: Nicholas Pooran Loses Cool, Strikes Dressing Room Glass After Teammate Falls In LSG vs SRH Match

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) batter Nicholas Pooran displayed his frustration by striking the dressing room glass during the IPL 2025 encounter against SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Monday, May 19. The incident took place in the final over of the first innings, with LSG aiming to boost their run rate.

Pooran, who had scored 45 off 26 balls, was looking to retain strike for the last few deliveries. However, he was run out while attempting a quick single from the non-striker’s end. Frustrated after his dismissal, Nicholas Pooran returned to the pavilion and witnessed Abdul Samad getting bowled just two balls later for a six-ball three.

The sequence of events triggered Pooran to angrily hit the glass panel in the dressing room. You can watch the video here:

LSG scored 205/7 after a strong 115/0 start, but SRH chased it down easily in 18.2 overs with six wickets in hand. Pant promoted himself to No.3 but failed again, scoring just 7 off 6. Pooran, batting at No.4, remains LSG’s top scorer with 455 runs at an average of 41.36 and a strike rate of 197.82 in 12 games.

Lucknow Super Giants crash out of IPL 2025 playoff race following SRH setback

LSG’s six-wicket loss to SRH at home officially ended their chances of making the IPL 2025 playoffs. The team had to win their last three league matches and rely on favorable outcomes in other games to stay in contention.

However, their fourth straight defeat—and seventh overall in 12 matches—brought a disappointing end to their campaign. Injuries to key Indian pacers weakened their bowling throughout the season, while inconsistent performances from Indian batters further hampered their progress.

This marks LSG’s second consecutive failure to reach the playoffs, after making the knockouts in 2022 and 2023. With playoff hopes gone, the Rishabh Pant-led side will aim to salvage some pride by finishing the season with seven wins out of 14, with matches remaining against GT and RCB.
