Delhi Capitals (DC) captain Axar Patel won the toss and chose to bowl in the 40th match of IPL 2025 against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). The hosts made a strong start, with openers Aiden Markram and Mitchell Marsh putting on 51 runs in the powerplay.
Markram brought up his fifty off 30 balls but was dismissed on the last ball of the 10th over for 52 off 33 balls by Dushmantha Chameera, ending an 87-run opening stand. Mitchell Starc then struck in the 12th over, removing the dangerous Nicholas Pooran for just nine.
In the 14th over, Mukesh Kumar made further inroads, taking two quick wickets—Abdul Samad (2) and Marsh (45)—as DC claimed four wickets in rapid succession. At the time of writing, the hosts were 118/4 after 15 overs, with David Miller (7) and Ayush Badoni (3) at the crease.
