The ongoing IPL 2025 match between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Delhi Capitals (DC) at HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala has reportedly been called off due to security concerns. Punjab were 122/1 in 10.1 overs, with Priyansh Arya scoring 70 off 34 before getting out.
Soon after, one of the floodlight towers went off, followed by another nearby. Reports suggest that both players and spectators were evacuated from the venue as a safety measure, with security personnel overseeing the process. An official statement is yet to be released, as the stadium remains in complete blackout.
For safety reasons, both teams and spectators were eventually evacuated from the stadium. The scenic venue, which holds around 23,000 people, was about 80 percent full when the evacuation took place.

“There was no panic among the spectators. Both players and fans were evacuated from the stadium calmly and safely,” an HPCA source told PTI. At the time of the interruption due to floodlight failure, Prabhsimran Singh was unbeaten on 50 off 28 balls, while his opening partner Priyansh Arya had scored 70 off 34 before being dismissed by pacer T Natarajan.
Following the cancellation of tonight’s match, the future of the IPL 2025 season remains uncertain. Reports suggest that a BCCI meeting is currently underway to address growing security concerns raised by several foreign players.
This development comes in the wake of India’s missile strikes on terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, carried out two weeks after the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives.
On Thursday, multiple districts in Punjab—including Pathankot, Amritsar, Jalandhar, Hoshiarpur, Mohali—and the Union Territory of Chandigarh experienced blackouts amid air raid sirens and reports of explosion-like sounds from Jammu.
