Following reports of Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal’s ongoing divorce proceedings with Dhanashree Verma, RJ Mahvash once again sparked speculation with a cryptic Instagram post. The popular radio jockey, who is rumored to be dating Chahal, shared a series of pictures dressed in a white t-shirt, complemented by a red-heart-laden sheer shrug and a black belt. However, it was her caption that truly captured the internet’s attention.
She wrote, “Jhut, lalach, aur fareb se parey hain.. khuda ka shukr ainey aaj bhi khade hain..” which translates to “Far from lies, greed, and deceit… Thank God, we are still standing today, looking in the mirror.” Chahal, who has been linked to Mahvash in recent weeks, immediately liked the post, fueling further speculation about their rumored relationship.
Chahal’s Divorce Proceedings and Alimony Dispute
The timing of RJ Mahvash’s post coincided with reports that Chahal had agreed to pay a substantial permanent alimony of ₹4.75 crore to his estranged wife, Dhanashree Verma. However, reports indicate that he has only paid ₹2.37 crore so far, with the remaining amount yet to be settled. The delay in payment led the court to consider it a matter of non-compliance, ultimately rejecting the couple’s request to waive the mandatory cooling-off period. The Bombay High Court has now directed the family court to make a final decision on the divorce plea by March 20, given Chahal’s commitments to the upcoming IPL 2025 season, starting on March 22.
The End of a Marriage and Legal Proceedings
Chahal and Verma, who tied the knot in December 2020, have reportedly been living separately since June 2022. It was only in February 2025 that they formally filed for divorce at the Bandra Family Court. Their petition was submitted under Section 13B of the Hindu Marriage Act, which allows for divorce by mutual consent.
Along with the main petition, they also requested a waiver of the mandatory cooling-off period, aiming for a swift resolution. However, given the recent legal complications, their separation remains under judicial scrutiny. Meanwhile, Mahvash’s enigmatic post has only intensified speculation surrounding her connection with the cricketer.
