Rajasthan Royals’ 14-year-old prodigy, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, has quickly become one of the biggest talking points of IPL 2025. He made a sensational debut by smashing a six off the very first ball he faced and later went on to score the fastest century by an Indian in IPL history.

However, after getting out in his debut match, cameras caught him rubbing his eyes, sparking speculation that he may have been crying.

Addressing the rumours in a candid chat with Musheer Khan after the match against Punjab Kings, Suryavanshi clarified, “When I got out, I looked at the big screen and the light hit my eyes. That’s why I was rubbing them – not because I was crying.” He added, “People kept asking if I cried, but my eyes were just hurting.”

Historic Performances at Just 14

Despite the emotional chatter, Suryavanshi has let his bat do most of the talking. He impressed everyone with a solid 20-ball 34 in his debut innings, but truly made headlines with a blistering 35-ball century against the Gujarat Titans. This incredible knock not only showcased his natural flair and aggressive style but also made him the youngest player ever to score a century in IPL history.

Even in RR’s latest clash against PBKS, Suryavanshi lit up the scoreboard with a blazing 40 off just 15 deliveries—each run coming through boundaries and sixes. Teaming up with Yashasvi Jaiswal, he helped RR race to 76 runs within the first five overs, underlining his status as a future star.

A Bright Spark in RR’s Struggling Season

While Suryavanshi’s individual brilliance has been a breath of fresh air, Rajasthan Royals’ overall campaign has been disappointing. After a promising start to the season, RR’s form dipped sharply, losing 10 of their 13 matches. Currently sitting second from the bottom in the standings, the team has struggled to convert good starts into wins.

Despite this, Suryavanshi’s emergence as a dynamic and fearless batter gives the franchise hope for the future. Although his fireworks against PBKS went in vain—RR lost the match by 10 runs—his performances continue to excite fans and offer a glimpse into what could be a stellar IPL career ahead.
