Chennai Super Kings (CSK) stand-in captain MS Dhoni delighted fans by hopping over the boundary fence at Arun Jaitley Stadium to greet supporters after the team’s practice session on Monday, May 19. CSK is set to face Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the same venue in match 62 of the IPL 2025 on Tuesday, May 20.
A video capturing the moment has since gone viral, showing Dhoni jumping the fence to meet a young fan and taking pictures with him. You can watch the video here:

The five-time IPL winners, Chennai Super Kings, have had a tough season and are already out of the race for the playoffs. With only six points from 12 games, they currently sit at the bottom of the standings. Their next opponents, Rajasthan Royals, haven’t fared much better. They are ninth on the table, just above CSK, also with six points but from 13 matches.
In head-to-head encounters, CSK have a slight edge, winning 16 out of 30 matches against RR. However, in their last meeting earlier this season, Rajasthan Royals narrowly defeated CSK by six runs while defending a total of 182 in Match 11 on March 30 at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati.
MS Dhoni has an impressive track record against RR in the IPL
MS Dhoni has had a challenging IPL 2025 season so far, scoring only 180 runs in 12 innings, with an average of 25.71 and a strike rate of 140.62. His best performance this season was an unbeaten 30 against Delhi Capitals (DC) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
However, Dhoni boasts an impressive record against their upcoming opponents, Rajasthan Royals. In 30 matches against RR, the 43-year-old has scored 569 runs across 25 innings, maintaining a strong average of 40.64 and a strike rate of 129.91. His record includes two half-centuries, with a highest score of an unbeaten 75.
