Virat Kohli, a RCB (Royal Challengers Bangalore) stalwart just got the loudest cheer from the fans in IPL (Indian Premier League) 2025. The interesting thing is that this didn’t happen in Bengaluru; it happened in Mumbai.
RCB is playing against Mumbai Indians (MI) on April 7, 2025 night. The two teams have a strong competition and this is a match fans always look forward to. Kohli, despite being a Bengaluru boy (in the IPL) has received the most love in Mumbai in terms of loudness.
The sound meter reached 138 dB when Virat Kohli walked in to bat the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. This is more than what MS Dhoni, Rohit Sharma, or Jasprit Bumrah have garnered from the fans.
Virat Kohli Scores a 50
Virat didn’t disappoint the excited fans who came to watch him bat the Wankhede on Monday night. He scored a quick fifty against Mumbai, which included a six on the very first ball he faced of Bumrah. Kohli scored 67 off 42 deliveries at a strike rate of 159.52. He hit eight boundaries (fours) and two maximums (sixes) during his time in the middle.
Kohli looked in great touch against Mumbai and scored runs quite comfortably. At the end of the first innings, RCB scored a total of 221 runs, losing five wickets.
Bumrah’s Return was Decent
Jasprit Bumrah returned to playing cricket after a long time. While he went wicket less, his economy still was very decent. Bumrah gave just 29 runs from his four overs, at an average of 7.25 runs every over. Bumrah had the best bowling economy during the first innings.
Trent Boult was quite expensive, as he gave 57 runs from his four overs. Even Deepak Chahar went for plenty of runs (29) in his two overs. RCB looked really dangerous with the bat on Monday night. Rajat Patidar also managed to score 64 runs from 32 deliveries, and during the end, Jitesh Sharma scored 40 from 19 balls. It will be interesting to see how Mumbai Indians respond to the innings from RCB.
