A thrilling finish by Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s wicketkeeper and stand-in captain, Jitesh Sharma, sparked joyous celebrations from Virat Kohli and Krunal Pandya on Tuesday. RCB clinched a six-wicket victory over Lucknow Super Giants in their final league match of IPL 2025, concluding the stage with nine wins from 14 games.
Opting to bowl first at the Ekana Stadium, RCB initially struggled as Rishabh Pant smashed a brilliant 118 off 61 balls, supported by Mitchell Marsh’s quickfire 67 off 37. The duo powered LSG to a formidable total of 227/2 in 20 overs. Virat Kohli’s steady 54 off 30 gave RCB a fighting chance, though their situation looked challenging.
However, Jitesh Sharma turned the game around with a blistering 85 from just 33 balls. He partnered with Mayank Agarwal, who contributed 41 off 23, to form a vital 107-run stand for the sixth wicket. Jitesh sealed the win with a massive six off Ayush Badoni, sending RCB into celebration mode, as both Kohli and Krunal rejoiced in what was a memorable victory.

RCB Seal Second Spot in Points Table, March into Qualifier 1
Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s (RCB) victory over Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) confirmed their place among the top two teams on the points table. Although they needed to chase the target within 18 overs to claim the top position, the win alone was enough to push them ahead of Gujarat Titans by one point.
This marks RCB’s first qualification for Qualifier 1 since the 2016 season. Back then, they secured a top-two finish after defeating Delhi Capitals (DC) in their final league match. The team advanced to the final that year but narrowly lost to Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 8 runs.
This placement qualifies RCB for Qualifier 1, where they will face the top-ranked team, Punjab Kings, who also finished with 19 points but had a superior net run rate. The winner of Qualifier 1 will advance directly to the IPL 2025 final, while the loser will have another opportunity in Qualifier 2.
