Punjab Kings (PBKS) co-owner Preity Zinta was visibly ecstatic as captain Shreyas Iyer sealed the victory with a commanding six off Ashwani Kumar during the IPL 2025 Qualifier 2 against Mumbai Indians (MI) in Ahmedabad on Sunday, June 1.

Zinta was seen applauding with joy as Iyer guided PBKS to a successful chase of 204, securing the win with five wickets in hand and one over remaining. The winning shot came off a full and wide delivery outside off stump, which Iyer lofted effortlessly over the long-on boundary.

It marked his eighth six of the innings and his fourth in the 19th over alone. You can watch the video here:

Shreyas Iyer Shines Bright As PBKS Defeat MI To Enter IPL 2025 Final

Shreyas Iyer delivered a match-winning performance to guide Punjab Kings (PBKS) to a five-wicket victory over Mumbai Indians (MI), securing their place in the IPL 2025 final. Nehal Wadhera provided valuable support with a brisk 48 off 29 balls, which included two sixes and four fours.

Josh Inglis contributed a quickfire 38 off 21 balls, while Priyansh Arya added 20 from just 10 deliveries. For MI, Ashwani Kumar emerged as their standout bowler with two wickets, though he gave away 23 runs in the crucial penultimate over. Batting first, Mumbai posted a strong total of 203/6 in 20 overs.

Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma each scored 44, while Jonny Bairstow and Naman Dhir chipped in with 38 (24) and 37 (18), respectively. Azmatullah Omarzai picked up two wickets for PBKS during the first innings.With this victory, Punjab advance to face Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the IPL 2025 final at the same venue on Tuesday, June 3.

PBKS will be aiming to settle the score after an eight-wicket loss to RCB in Qualifier 1. Both teams are chasing their first-ever IPL title, with Iyer looking to secure back-to-back championships, having led Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to victory last season.
