Rohit Sharma Shines as MI Defeat GT to Reach Qualifier 2 Against PBKS

After choosing to bat first, Rohit Sharma played a crucial innings for MI, scoring a match-winning 81 runs despite benefiting from two dropped catches. He capitalized on these chances, hitting four sixes and nine fours off 50 balls. Support came from Jonny Bairstow (47), Suryakumar Yadav (33), Tilak Varma (25), and Hardik Pandya (22), helping MI post a challenging total of 228/5 in 20 overs.

In response, MI’s bowlers performed well under difficult, dewy conditions to limit GT to 208/6. Sai Sudharsan’s 80 runs went in vain as GT fell short. Rohit Sharma was named Player of the Match for his vital innings. Reflecting on his performance, Sharma said:

“I have got only 4 50s, would have liked more. Good day for us as a team, I understand the importance of the Eliminator and taking the step forward, but another performance that I am proud of. When I play the game, it is about how I can do my best, keeping everything aside, and making sure that I can do the job for my team.”
