Aniket Verma, an explosive uncapped batter for Sunrisers Hyderabad, delivered a stunning performance in the IPL 2025 match against Delhi Capitals. Despite SRH losing wickets at regular intervals, Aniket played aggressively, scoring a brilliant 74 off just 41 balls, including five boundaries and six sixes.
His fearless power-hitting helped SRH post a competitive total. This wasn’t his first impactful knock in the tournament—he had already impressed with a quick 35 against Lucknow Super Giants. However, his innings against Delhi Capitals stood out, as it came on a challenging pitch where even experienced batters struggled to score freely.
Aniket’s Journey, From Jhansi to IPL Stardom
Born in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh, Aniket Verma honed his cricketing skills in Madhya Pradesh. He made a name for himself in the Madhya Pradesh Premier League, emerging as the highest run-scorer with 273 runs in six matches for Bhopal Leopards. His remarkable performances included a blistering 41-ball 123. At the U-23 level, he further showcased his talent with a brilliant 101 off 75 balls against Karnataka.

However, his Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy campaign was brief, as he played only one match and was dismissed for a golden duck. Despite this, his raw talent and aggressive batting style caught the attention of IPL scouts, leading to his acquisition by Sunrisers Hyderabad for ₹30 lakh in the IPL 2025 mega-auction.
Learning from the Best: Aniket’s Cricketing Inspirations
Aniket is eager to learn from some of the biggest names in cricket. In an interview, he expressed his desire to meet Hardik Pandya to discuss fitness, bat flow, and power-hitting techniques. He also hopes to pick up key shots from top Indian batters, such as the on-the-rise flick from Virat Kohli, the pull shot from Rohit Sharma, and the flick from Rishabh Pant.
Additionally, he wants to gain insights into patience and game awareness from MS Dhoni and understand the art of reading batsmen from Jasprit Bumrah. Despite his brilliant innings, SRH was bowled out for 163 in 18.4 overs, with Mitchell Starc taking 5 for 35 and Kuldeep Yadav contributing 3 for 22. Although Aniket and Heinrich Klaasen (32 off 19) fought back after an early collapse, Starc’s late strikes sealed the fate of the innings.
