Ab de Villiers is known to have strokes in his arsenal that not many batsmen possess. ‘Mr. 360’ has executed some freakish shots while playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore in his legendary IPL career. Today against Mumbai Indians he may have failed with the bat but still played an outrageous scoop shot.

The batting maestro came out to bat at number 4 with the match nicely poised. He joined Devdutt Padikkal who was going great guns and was making batting look easy. De Villiers looked in a counter-attacking mood and looked to put the MI bowlers under pressure.

Fast bowler James Pattinson was introduced in the bowling attack and was given the hard task to dismiss the mainstay of RCB batting. Then De Villiers pulled out an unreal scoop shot which went sailing for a six that that dazzled everyone including Virat Kohli.

The RCB skipper saw the replay and was just in awe of his good friend’s incredible ability. Pattinson bowled the delivery at around 140kmph but AB de Villiers decided to go down on one knew and scooped the length delivery for a majestic six.

The camera shifted focus to Kohli who was seen acknowledging the audacious strokeplay of De Villiers.

However, RCB received a major blow in the next over itself when Pollard took the prized wicket of De Villiers. Against the run of play, he was caught at the deep square leg boundary off a full toss by Pollard. De Villiers looked threatening but departed for just 25 runs which he made from 12 balls.

Meanwhile, RCB failed to capitalise on their rollicking start and lost a flurry of wickets in the middle overs. Mumbai Indians courtesy off Jasprit Bumrah came back in the contest and restricted RCB to a score of 164 runs after 20 overs.
