The Indian Premier League (IPL) governing council meeting is all set to take place today to address ever details with all the franchises. The BCCI has already assigned a detailed plan of action with all franchises for IPL 2020. The T20 league is tentatively scheduled to be played between September 19- November 8 in a bio-secure bubble at UAE.
Major consideration points such as putting a list of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in place to identify isolation centres in the UAE. Outlining a series of flights from India to booking close to 60,000 room nights and preparing sternest rules for breach of biosecure environment will all be reviewed. The marathon conference will confess all major talking points related to IPL 2020.
IPL Governing Council to meet today
Meanwhile, all the league franchises and other stakeholders along with BCCI president Sourav Ganguly will all be present during the online meeting on Sunday afternoon. The protocol is likely to be take place in two phases.
According to Times Of India, the first phase will take place when all IPL and BCCI officials, including those representing the IMG, will reach UAE before anyone as part of the synchronisation with Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) and Dubai Sports Council that has already commenced.
While the second phase will start when the franchises and players travel to the UAE and go under the imperative quarantine period of a week. Further two COVID tests get administered between 48 hours and isolation is observed in the strictest terms.
Interestingly all family members of the players are likely to get permission to travel in UAE. The ultimate decision related to this will be left to all the franchises as long as the bio-bubble doesn’t get violated in any condition.
Moreover, as per reports in TOI, evening matches will commence from 7:30 PM IST while the grand finale will take place on November 10. Previously, as per reports, the final was on November 8.
