Ishant Sharma Likely To Be Fit For Australia Tests

Its good news for the Indian fans as it is expected that senior pacer Ishant Sharma will be available for India’s four-match Test series against Australia which is to be played later this year. Ishant was excluded from the Test squad because of an abdominal injury he sustained during the recently concluded IPL in the UAE where he was representing the Delhi Capitals.

The senior pacer of the  Indian side played just one match in the IPL for the Delhi Capitals after which he was ruled out of the tournament. He was then flown straight to the NCA in Bangalore where his recovery was being monitored as the selectors wanted to assess his injury and then take a call on his selection for the Australian tour.

Ishant Sharma Most Likely To Be Fit For India – Australia Tests

A source in the BCCI confirmed that Ishant has been working with former India pacer Paras Mhambrey and as per the latest report, Ishant Sharma will be deemed fit for the Tests against Australia. Ishant’s inclusion means India’s bowling will be further strengthened as in addition to Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah’s presence in the squad.

“As NCA head, Dravid has informed the board that Ishant is working with Mhambrey to be fit in time for the Test matches. Ishant will definitely have a big role to play and his presence will not just give India another strike bowler, but also his experience will bring a lot to the table in Kohli’s absence,” a source told ANI.

As of now, Ishant Sharma is just three Tests away from playing his 100th for the Indian side. In the 97 test matches he has played for India, Ishant has picked 297 wickets in 97 games. It was during the 2008 Border Gavaskar trophy when Ishant made his Test debut for the Indian team as an 18-year-old, ever since which Ishant has been India’s key bowler in test cricket.
