Former Indian coach Greg Chappell is impressed by the influential figure of Virat Kohli in the Indian cricket team since he has taken over captaincy. Virat will be playing his fourth series down under and his second series as captain against a formidable Australian team. The series starts from December 17 with the limited-overs leg of the tour, followed by the Border-Gavaskar Test series.

Meanwhile, talking to the Sydney Morning Herald, Chappell lauded the Indian skipper by speaking about his impact as a player. Chappell, who has been one of the controversial figures in Indian cricket hailed Kohli as the most influential cricketer right now.

“I think he’s certainly one of the best players and one of the most influential players in world cricket at the moment,” Chappel told ‘Sydney Morning Herald’ according to PTI.

India Will Dominate Under Virat Kohli – Greg Chappell

Former Aussie cricketer Greg Chappell further said that Virat Kohli loves playing the longest format and India will dominate in all formats as long as he is the captain of the team.

“He loves Test cricket and while he’s playing India will treat Test cricket with respect because he has a big say in Indian cricket. “If you have a captain of India who is not interested in Test cricket that will impact the scene. Virat loves Test cricket, he champions Test cricket, and while that’s happening India will play Test cricket” said Chappell.

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli will be available for the entire limited overs-leg of the series. However, he will be available only for the first Test, after which he will return to India for the birth of his first child.

Unfortunately, Kohli has been heavily trolled on the internet for choosing to go back home, but he has not reacted to any of his.

He has been also granted paternity leave for the same about which he had informed the BCCI back in October. Meanwhile, Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma shared the news about their expected child back in September amid the IPL.
