England banked on a heroic from their all-rounder Ben Stokes to stage an epic comeback to level the series the four-match Test series 1-1 in Cape Town. Amid all the laughs and cheers, the visiting side will be pondering of the injury of veteran fast bowler James Anderson, whose participation in the third Test looks in jeopardy.

Anderson has been struggling with injuries in the recent past, and once again it has come back to haunt him. Although he picked the wicket of Keshav Maharaj and then shared the second new balls moments before lunch, but bowled only two overs after tea citing some discomfort. Since then, he was out of the attack, but Ben Stokes joined the party with three late wickets to turn the tables in England”s favour.

With the series rightly poised, Joe Root & Co will badly want James Anderson to regain fitness and be available for the third Test which starts from January 16 in Port Elizabeth. But as of now, it looks like highly unlikely. The 37-year-old has struggled with alot of injuries and missed most of the Ashes since suffering a calf injury in August last year. This is Anderson”s first injury since the injury, and he has hurt him once again.

“It”s his side, but it could be just a little niggle,” Joe Root said. “He”ll go for a scan, get some treatment, and we”ll see how he pulls up going into PE. We”ll wait and see,” he added.
