The England vs India test series was a fiercely fought contest between the two teams on the field. The series witnessed some heated moments, involving the players of both teams. In one incident, James Anderson engaged in a war of words with the Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah.
India’s bowling all-rounder Shardul Thakur has revealed that Anderson said something wrong to Bumrah, which charged up the Indian team. He added that the England team abused Jasprit Bumrah and said things that cannot be disclosed in public.
In an interview with the Indian Express, Shardul Thakur said,
“We were trying to attack Anderson. Something had happened during the Lord’s Test and it was carried to The Oval. I was later told that Anderson said something to Bumrah which he shouldn’t have, I was told they (England team) abused Bumrah. Those words cannot be said in public, so everyone got charged up after this”
According to few reports, Anderson asked Bumrah to bowl slow during this (watch video) famous 15-minute long over 😂
What we heard via stump mic- Bumrah to Buttler: I wasn't the one who asked to bowl slow. This means we're in for some aggressive cricket.#ENGvsIND pic.twitter.com/8F4TaKDRUK

Why shouldn’t we bowl bodyline? We are not playing to please anyone: Shardul Thakur
Shardul Thakur defended India’s ploy to bowl a barrage of bouncers to James Anderson in the recently concluded test series. He questioned that when the opposition bowlers bowl bouncers to tail-enders, why shouldn’t the Indian bowlers do the same? Shardul Thakur added that the Indian team plays to win, and not please anybody.
“When we go overseas, our tailenders also face bouncers. In Australia, Natarajan was bowled bouncers by Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins despite them knowing that this guy hasn’t batted much even in First-Class cricket. So now when our opponents’ tailender come to bat then why can’t we bowl bouncers at him? Why shouldn’t we bowl bodyline? We are not playing to please anyone. We are playing there to win,” said Shardul Thakur.
