“I have to say one of my good pals Joe Root for sure, he’s an absolute gun”, Roy said in a recent interaction with Anis Sajan.

There’s no denying the quality Joe Root possess in all three formats. The 29-year-old has been the heart of England’s batting line up for a good 5-6 years now. Talking about his numbers, Root has 7599 runs at an average of 48.4 in his Test career so far.

As far as his white-ball numbers are concerned, they are even better. In ODIs, Joe Root has 5922 runs at a phenomenal average of 51 and it T20Is he has scored 893 runs in 32 matches.

The Test captain of England will return to cricket after skipping the first Test between England and West Indies for the birth of his child. Yesterday his side lost to West Indies by four wickets in a gripping encounter at Southampton.

England will be desperate to come back in the second Test to level terms in the series starting from July 16. It will also be detrimental for the home side keeping the ICC World Test Championship in perspective.
