Jasprit Bumrah Reveals Why He Doesn’t Smile After Taking Wickets

Speedster Jasprit Bumrah is considered one of the best pacers in world cricket at the moment. Over the last few years, he has grown into a leader of the Indian pace attack.

However, Jasprit Bumrah, in his 27-matches Test career, has picked up 113 wickets, at an average of 22.85. He is the fastest Indian to pick 100 wickets in test matches. However, Jasprit Bumrah is not known as somebody who celebrates the wickets aggressively.

While addressing the media in a press conference, the Indian pacer, revealed the reason behind not smiling and celebrating wickets. He said:

Jab main chhota tha main bahut celebration Karta tha, overexcited hota tha aur main actually plan bhi karta tha apne celebrations (When I was young, I used to celebrate a lot. I used to get overexcited and actually plan my celebration).”

“So I try to focus on the job at hand and yes when the game is over and the team has won then there’s ample time to celebrate. So till the time my job is not done, my focus is on making the team win,” Jasprit Bumrah added.

The India selectors recently announced Jasprit Bumrah as the vice-captain of the Indian test team for the Sri Lanka series, as KL Rahul has been ruled out due to an injury.

The two-match Test series will begin on March 4 at the PCA IS Bindra Stadium, Mohali. Speaking about his role, Jasprit Bumrah stated:

“I don’t look at it as a particular position, like a spinner or a fast bowler, or that batter is a leader. As a senior member of the team, you have to help the players in whatever capacity you can. As I have spoken earlier For me it is just a post. Yes, it is a great opportunity that has presented itself, and I am very happy to do that.”
