Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah is likely to miss the ODI series against England which will follow the five-match T20I series to be played in his hometown in Ahmedabad. Bumrah was released from the squad ahead of the fourth Test due to personal reasons. Bumrah will finish the series with four wickets from 48 overs bowled across two Test matches. He was also rested from the second Test in Chennai as part of the team’s workload management.

Jasprit Bumrah To Miss ODI Series vs England
Meanwhile, Cricbuzz understands that, after the T20I series, Jasprit Bumrah will remain absent in the ODI series as well which will be played in a bio-secure environment in Pune, starting March 23. Bumrah’s unavailability from the entire white-ball leg against England allows India to try out new players.
The Indian team management has not asked for Bumrah’s replacement for the fourth Test as yet. Mohammed Siraj is likely to replace him in the XI in the fourth Test at the Motera. Umesh Yadav who has been added to the squad after passing the fitness Test is also another option.
Meanwhile, Varun Chakravarty has failed the fitness Test conducted at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) less than a week ago. Varun was put through the Yo-Yo test and couldn’t clock the required 17.1 mark. The 29-year-old spinner was then sent to Mumbai to play practice games after having spent three months at the NCA.
With still 10 days to go for the start of the T20I series, Varun can be asked to appear for one more Test. However, the odds are against him as it takes more time than what’s available to improve Yo-Yo test results.
The mystery spinner was earlier named in the Indian T20I squad for the Australia series which he missed due to injury. If he fails to make the cut in this series, then he will miss out on a potential debut for Team India twice in five months.
India’s squad for the 4th Test: Virat Kohli (c), Rohit Sharma, Mayank Agarwal, Shubman Gill, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane (vice-captain), KL Rahul, Hardik Pandya, Rishabh Pant (wicket-keeper), Wriddhiman Saha (wicket-keeper), R Ashwin, Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Ishant Sharma, Md. Siraj, Umesh Yadav
