Jay Shah, secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), laid the groundwork for the board’s upcoming state-of-the-art training facilities in northeastern India, which would assist six states in the region in improving their players’ games through improved infrastructure.

On Monday, the BCCI officially opened the first of six North-Eastern states’ indoor cricket training academies, with the primary goal of assisting the region’s aspiring players.

The indoor cricket academies, which would have its headquarters in Shillong, Itanagar, Kohima, Aizawl, Imphal, and Gangtok, will cater to players from Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, and Sikkim.

“Honoured to have laid the foundation stone for BCCI’s upcoming state-of-the-art indoor training facilities in the North-East,” Shah wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

BCCI lays the groundwork for indoor cricket academies in six North Eastern states:

Jay Shah, honorary secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India, declared that a modern indoor facility in the northeastern states of India had its foundation stone placed. Shah said on Twitter that the six northeastern states were the BCCI’s top priority and that the organization was actively working to raise the standard of cricket.

In the past, during the monsoon season, cricket players from these states had to go to training facilities in Kolkata, Bengaluru, Chennai, Mumbai, or Ahmedabad.

“Our cricketers from six states—Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, and Sikkim—will soon benefit from world-class indoor nets, indoor swimming pools, and fitness centers for year-round training options,” Shah wrote.

“This, along with the launch of the new pavilion in Mizoram, are big steps towards our vision to enhance cricket infrastructure in the region, Exciting times are ahead,” he added.

The Northeast’s state-of-the-art indoor facility’s opening marks a new chapter in the region’s cricketing history, as the BCCI continues to foster cricketing excellence throughout the nation.
