Team India pacer Jaydev Unadkat has been released from the squad for the second Test against Australia in the 2023 Border Gavaskar Trophy. The Indian selectors took the decision in consultation with the Indian team management. Unadkat will join the Saurashtra team for the Ranji Trophy final, which will be played against Bengal from February 16 at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

Jaydev Unadkat missed out on a place in the Indian XI for the first Test against Australia. With Saurashtra reaching the final of the Ranji Trophy, the pacer has been released from the team. The Board of Control for Cricket in India announced the decision through a press release. They wrote, “The All-India Senior Selection Committee in consultation with the Indian team management has decided to release Jaydev Unadkat from India’s squad for the 2nd Test of the Mastercard Australia tour of India for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.”

Jaydev has been an integral member of the Saurashtra Team. He missed out on most of the games due to Team India commitments. The pacer led Saurashtra in three games in this Ranji Trophy tournament. His all-round performance powered Saurashtra to an innings win against Delhi in the league stages. His presence is likely to boost Saurashtra in the final clash.

Vasavada remained unbeaten on 47 runs, while Chetan Sakariya smashed a 48-ball 24.

Earlier in the match, Karnataka put on 407 runs on the board, on the back of Mayank Agarwal’s century. In response, Saurashtra scored 527 runs, taking a 120 runs lead in the first innings. Karnataka got all out for 234 runs in their second innings, setting Saurashtra a target of 115 runs.
