Indian bowler Jhulan Goswami has announced her retirement from T20 Internationals with immediate effect. Jhulan Goswami has been one of the most prolific pacers of women”s squad since their first ever match in 2006.

Jhulan tops the list with 56 wickets in the shortest format of the game. Jhulan retirement will now mean that a new bowling pair has to take up the duties in the upcoming ICC World T20 Championship in November. However, she now remains as the only Indian bowler to clinch a five-wicket haul in all formats of the game.

Jhulan is already the leading wicket-taker in ODI”s as she became the only bowler to add 200 scalps to her bag. According to a press release from the BCCI, she had thanked the officials for their trust and confidence in her and wished rest of the squad to come out in flying colours in upcoming fixtures.

Jhulan is known for her decimation of opponents since her debut created an impact in the Indian squad. She had been a fear factor for the opposition in several tournaments. The focus now shifts to youngsters who can probably fill her shoes.

Ramesh Powar was recently appointed the coach of women”s team and it will be interesting if he can devise a formidable bowling combination prior further schedules.
