Jonny Bairstow surprised himself after his beg leg hit the stumps and he was out hit wicket. The SRH opener was it seemed was batting on a different pitch as he was executing big strokes against both pace and spin. At the other end, Warner was struggling for timing but it didn’t affect Bairstow and he kept clearing the boundary ropes. He gave his side a much-needed flying start while chasing a target of 151 on another slow pitch in Chennai.
Jonny Bairstow Out Hit Wicket After Playing A Counter-Attacking Knock
Meanwhile, Jonny Bairstow would be disappointed with his dismissal as he became the first batsman in IPL 2021 to be out hit wicket. When Krunal Pandya was about to ball the second ball of the 8th over Bairstow had already premeditated to play a sweep shot.
Bairstow got the length he desired to play the sweep but went way too deep in his crease. The ball hit his gloves and went for four but wicket-keeper De Kock quickly signalled he was out hit wicket. The destructive SRH opener smashed 43 in just 22 deliveries but wasn’t able to make it a big one. His back leg made contact with the stumps while he was playing the sweep shot and MI got a much-needed breakthrough.

Furthermore, as far the match is concerned MI are back in the contest after picking back to back wickets of Bairstow and Manish Pandey. They require another 70 runs in 10 overs with David Warner set and leading the charge with the bat for his side. Once again the old ball is playing tricks on the Chepauk pitch and MI will feel they again have another outside chance to win the match.
