Catching has been of top-notch in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Rajasthan Royals cricketer Jos Buttler took it one step ahead taking a flying catch to dismiss Chennai Super Kings Faf du Plessis at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium.
Chennai Super Kings opted to bat first after MS Dhoni won the toss, who is playing his 200th IPL match. He is the first player in the history of the tournament to achieve this landmark. Meanwhile, Rajasthan Royals ace fast bowler Jofra Archer struck right at the start to put Chennai on top.
Jos Buttler takes a flying catch
However, all credit to Jos Buttler for taking a superb catch. Archer bowled a 148.6kph delivery banged into the surface which travelled fast to Faf du Plessis. The in-form batsman rose with the bounce and went for the uppercut over point.
It seemed like the ball didn’t come on as he expected and he hit it much straighter towards short cover. Jos Buttler flies to his left to complete the catch with both hands which is one of the best we have seen in IPL so far.

Meanwhile, Chennai Super Kings needed a big partnership from Sam Curran and Shane Watson. But Rajasthan Royals bowlers struck at the right intervals to be in the game. Young Kartik Tyagi soon removed the dangerous looking Watson before the spinners – Rahul Tewatia and Shreyas Gopal took the charge.
They removed Sam Curran and Ambati Rayudu to have Chennai at 56 for four. They will now require a big knock from MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja – who are in the middle to post a challenging total on the board.
