Recently, South African batsman JP Duminy did an Instagram live session with popular commentator Pommie Mbangwa. During the rapid-fire segment, Mbangwa asked Duminy about who is currently his favourite Indian batsman.

Duminy reveals his favourite Indian batsman

Duminy picked the quality India opener Rohit Sharma as his favourite batsman. The opening batsman of India has taken his batting to another level in the last few years. He has been the standout batsman in white-ball cricket alongside his skipper Virat Kohli.

“Rohit Sharma is my favourite batsman, I like his pick-up pull shot”, Duminy told Mbangwa during the chat.

Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma was the second-highest run-scorer in all formats in international cricket in 2019. The elegant batsman was in scintillating form during the World Cup in England last year. He ended the tournament as the highest run-getter with 648 that included five centuries at an average of 81 in only 9 matches.

He continued his rich vein of form in Test cricket to against South Africa late last year. Rohit scored his maiden double hundred in Test cricket at Vizag and followed it up with another ton in the second innings. The opener will be looking to give India solid starts later this year in the Test series against Australia.

Rohit was all set to lead his side Mumbai Indians in the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League. The Mumbai Indians are the defending champions of the IPL, they defeated CSK last year in a thrilling final. Unfortunately the IPL this year has been postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and so far there has been no official word about the start of the tournament this year.
