Kagiso Rabada and Quinton de Kock who are an integral part of Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians respectively are all set to miss their opening IPL 2021 fixture. The South African players will be busy with the 3 matches ODI series against Pakistan which will conclude on April 7. 

The two-star players of their respective franchise will not play the opening match for their sides. De Kock will be missing the season opener against RCB on April 9 whereas speedster Rabada along with Anrich Nortje will not be available for the April 10 match against CSK.

It will be a significant blow for DC as they depend heavily on Rabada and Nortje and their fast bowling combination was highly successful in the last edition. The Delhi Capitals is already without their skipper Shreyas Iyer who is expected to miss the entire season due to a shoulder injury. 

As far as Mumbai Indians are concerned they are expected to play Chris Lynn in place of De Kock in the opening match of IPL 2021 against RCB in Chennai. CSK fast bowler Lungi Ngidi will also be playing the 3 match ODI series at home and will miss the first match of his side on April 10.

According to InsideSport, these players might miss one or two matches depending on the quarantine specifications once they arrive in India.

Ngidi will join the team only after April 5. Ngidi will have to follow the same guidelines as others and will be put in quarantine once he arrives. Therefore he will not be available for selection for the opening game”, Kasi Vishwanathan was quoted as saying by InsideSport.

Meanwhile, all these players are not part of the T20I squad of South Africa for the T20I series against Pakistan. After missing their opening matches all the South African players will be available throughout IPL 2021. The much-awaited next season of the IPL kicks off with the opening clash between champs Mumbai Indians and the fancied Royal Challengers Bangalore.
