IPL franchise Delhi Capitals are mulling over the availability of their South African pacers Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje for the upcoming edition of the IPL. A couple of other teams along with Delhi have raised concern over the availability of their overseas players. The Capitals made it to the finals o the last season losing to Mumbai Indians who lifted their fifth IPL title.

Meanwhile, the IPL is clashing with South Africa’s tour of Pakistan for a white-ball series. Both the pacers Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje will be required for national commitments and hence will join their team late. A confirmation on whether the two pacers will be available for the franchise is what they are looking forward to.

Delhi Capitals Seek Clarity Over Rabada-Nortje

Cricbuzz understands that the franchise officials have officially taken up the matter with the BCCI. The BCCI has assured that they will seek clarity on this from CSA. The board had also recently informed the franchises that it “will send the availability details of overseas players shortly.” Meanwhile, the South African pacers may miss two games or may join the team after two weeks.

Kagiso Rabada (17 matches, 30 wickets) and Anrich Nortje (16 matches, 22 wickets) were the key performers for Delhi which reached the final for the first time in 13 seasons last year. They had taken 52 wickets together for Delhi Capitals last season.

The seven-match SA-Pakistan series – three ODIs and four T20Is – is scheduled between April 2 and 16. With IPL 2021 starting from April 10 or 11, Delhi Capitals in all likelihood will miss the Protean duo for the initial games.

Meanwhile, the IPL is pondering over getting a sponsor before the auctions on February 18. As many as 292 players have made the cut for the auctions in the final list. The BCCI-VIVO deal is yet to be finalised for the upcoming season.
