Deccan Gladiators have set their eyes on the upcoming edition of the Abu Dhabi T10 League starting from January 28 with the final scheduled to take place on February 06, 2021. West Indies legend Kieron Pollard has replaced veteran Aussie all-rounder Shane Watson as the captain of the side.
The team is a perfect mixture of experience and young talent. With Afghanistan wicket-keeper batsman Mohammad Shahzad at the top, Deccan Gladiators can expect some fiery start when the ball starts rolling in the lands of UAE. They also have the luxury of international talents like Wanindu Hasaranga from Sri Lanka, while Colin Ingram is there to make his presence count.
Deccan Gladiators aim to win the trophy
Moreover, the presence of former South Africa cricketer Imran Tahir will bolster their bowling attack. A tricky customer, Tahir is a legend when it comes to the shortest format. He has enjoyed all over the world including IPL and will look to lead the pack from the front.
Meanwhile, the Gladiators will miss the service of Sri Lankan pacer Lahiru Kumara, who is out of the tournament due to an injury. The 24-year-old Tasmanian fast bowler Aaron Summers will replace the Sri Lankan. He has experience of playing in the BBL and PSL which will add value to Deccan Gladiators.
The promoter of Deccan Gladiators Mr. Gaurav Grover believes that this short format league has a lot of potentials and is hopeful that they can win the trophy this time around for the first time. They open their account against Pune Devil on January 28 at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
