KL Rahul has been selected as the vice-captain of the Indian limited-overs side. Rohit Sharma, the former vice-captain of the team has not been able to make the side after suffering from a hamstring injury in the ongoing IPL season. This has made the selector think of Rahul as an option for the series. Meanwhile, Rohit was appointed deputy to Virat Kohli in white-ball cricket in 2017 and has led the Men in Blue on a number of occasions. Under him, Team India won Nidahas Trophy and Asia Cup in 2018.

Following his appointment as the vice-captain of the side, Rahul reacted upon the same saying that he wasn’t expecting this. He further added that it is a proud and happy moment for him.

Happy & Proud Moment For Me-KL Rahul

“It is a very happy and proud moment. I wasn’t expecting it, but I’m very happy. I am ready for responsibility and challenge and I will try to do my best for my team as much as I can. I am looking forward to the coming tour but the next 2-3 weeks before that are very important. The next 2-3 months will be very important. I am thinking about one day at a time, not much forward at the moment,” he said.

KL Rahul has led a huge turnaround for Kings XI Punjab in the IPL winning their last five matches. Rahul is also leading the run-scoring chart at the moment with 595 runs from 12 matches.

He has won the last five matches consecutive matches, in what has been a tremendous turnaround for the Kings XI Punjab. They have made a winning habit now, after struggling to get wins in the first seven games of their season.

Rahul, also has made a comeback to the Indian Test side and should be looking forward to having a good series down under.
