Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have roped in wicket-keeper batsman Tim Seifert as a replacement for fast bowler Ali Khan. Incidentally, Khan, who joined as Harry Gurney’s replacement, was also ruled out of the competition.

The 29-year-old fast bowler from the USA was looking forward to making his debut in the IPL. He is the first player from his country to bag an IPL contract on the back of consistent returns in the Caribbean Premier League. Meanwhile, Ali Khan was carrying a strain injury from the CPL.

He was anticipated to get fit according to KKR CEO Venky Mysore, but Khan couldn’t recuperate in time. As a result, Kolkata Knight Riders had to go in for a replacement. KKR went with New Zealand’s Tim Seifert, who has worked with Brendon McCullum – KKR head coach in Trinbago Knight Riders in the CPL.

KKR avail Tim Seifert for the remainder of IPL 2020

Northern Districts had confirmed Seifert will be an absentee for the Plunket Shield as he was called in as a replacement player in IPL. Tim Seifert had a good outing with the CPL champions scoring 133 runs in nine innings at a strike rate of 109.91.

Meanwhile, Tim Seifert will be a great addition to the KKR camp, who have blown hot and cold so far in IPL 2020. They sit in the fourth place with five wins from 10 games. The two-time IPL champions need to pull their socks up to be in contention for a playoff spot.
