List of Records Achieved by Rachin Ravindra After Clinical Century Against SA in CT 2025 Semifinal

Rachin Ravindra delivered an unforgettable performance in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 semi-final between New Zealand and South Africa. Playing under broad daylight at Lahore’s iconic Gaddafi Stadium, he smashed a magnificent 108 off 101 balls, rewriting multiple records along the way.

Rachin Ravindra’s Masterclass Century

Ravindra’s innings was nothing short of a spectacle. His aggressive yet controlled approach helped New Zealand pile up an imposing total of 362/6. His century came at a crucial moment, ensuring his team stayed ahead of South Africa in the high-stakes clash.

Breaking Records with a Flurry of Runs

By reaching his fifth ODI century in just 13 innings across ICC events, Ravindra shattered the previous record held by India’s Shikhar Dhawan. Dhawan had taken 15 innings to reach this milestone, making Ravindra the fastest batter to achieve the feat.

Consistency in ICC Tournaments

Ravindra’s century was a testament to his consistency in ICC tournaments. He had already announced himself on the world stage with three centuries in the 2023 ODI World Cup. Now, with two more in the 2025 Champions Trophy, he became the first batter to score all his first five ODI tons in ICC events.

The Youngest Star to Achieve Five ODI Tons in ICC Events

At just 25 years and 107 days old, Ravindra also became the youngest batter to notch five centuries in ICC ODI events. Previously, cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar had held the record with three centuries at a young age.

Statistical Brilliance

Ravindra’s numbers in ICC tournaments are staggering:

He averages 67.00 across ICC ODI events (804 runs in 13 innings).

He now holds the record for the most centuries in ICC event matches in Asia by a non-Asian player.

He has already equaled legends like Joe Root and Chris Gayle with five centuries in global events.

Record for Multiple Tons in a Single Champions Trophy

Ravindra joined an elite group of players, including Chris Gayle (2006), Sourav Ganguly (2000), and Shikhar Dhawan (2013), who have scored multiple centuries in a single edition of the Champions Trophy.

Least Innings to Five ODI Hundreds for New Zealand

Among New Zealand cricketers, only Devon Conway has achieved five ODI tons in fewer innings than Ravindra:

Devon Conway – 22 innings

Rachin Ravindra – 28 innings

Daryl Mitchell – 30 innings

Kane Williamson – 56 innings

Nathan Astle – 64 innings

Most 50+ Scores in ICC Tournaments Before Turning 25

Ravindra’s seven 50+ scores in ICC tournaments before turning 25 place him just behind Sachin Tendulkar, who had nine.

Ravindra’s Unique Batting Versatility

Interestingly, Ravindra has demonstrated remarkable adaptability in his batting positions. In the 2023 World Cup, he scored centuries at No. 3 and as an opener. Similarly, in the 2025 Champions Trophy, he registered a ton at No. 4 before opening the batting and smashing another century.

Setting New Standards in Pakistan

Ravindra is now the first batter to hit two centuries in ICC event matches hosted in Pakistan. Despite 20 players scoring tons in global events in the country, none managed to achieve this milestone twice.

Elite Company in ICC ODI Tournaments

Ravindra’s tally of five centuries in ICC ODI tournaments places him among cricket’s elite. He now stands level with greats like Joe Root, Chris Gayle, and Herschelle Gibbs and trails only legends like Sachin Tendulkar (7) and Rohit Sharma (8).

Surpasses Legends with Most Centuries in ICC ODI Tournaments

He has etched his name among cricket’s elite by surpassing several legends in terms of centuries scored in ICC ODI tournaments. With five centuries to his name, he now stands ahead of iconic players such as AB de Villiers, Sanath Jayasuriya, Mahela Jayawardene, Brian Lara, Kane Williamson, Viv Richards, and Rahul Dravid, Babar Azam, Jos Buttler, and Steve Smith among others.
