Kolkata Knight Riders fast bowler Lockie Ferguson impressed in his first game of the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) against Sunrisers Hyderabad. He delivered a perfect yorker to knock off Manish Pandey to put Kolkata on top in Abu Dhabi.
Chasing a moderate total of 164 runs, Kane Williamson and Jonny Bairstow put Hyderabad into the stride. They played some gorgeous looking shots to add 50 runs for the first wicket before Kolkata Knight Riders pulled the brakes.
The fast bowler from New Zealand drew the first blood removing the dangerous looking Kane Williamson out before removing Piryam Garg cheaply who was promoted in the batting order. Varun Chakravarthy also chipped in with useful contributions removing the set Jonny Bairstow to have Sunrisers Hyderabad at 70 for three.
Lockie Ferguson castles Manish Pandey with a yorker
Kolkata Knight Riders skipper Eoin Morgan seeking an opportunity persisted with Lockie Ferguson which paid dividends as he knocked off Manish Pandey to give his side the advantage. It was a dream delivery. A perfect yorker that has the better of Manish Pandey.
It was fast from Ferguson and dipping and on target off-stump yorker and completely bamboozled Manish Pandey. It sneaks through even before he could blink and crashes the off-stump as Lockie Ferguson completes his third wicket of the match.

Sunrisers Hyderabad was in dire need of a partnership with skipper David Warner and Vijay Shankar at the crease. But Pat Cummins stood up to his task and removed Shankar to have Hyderabad 109 for five. It will now require a herculean effort from skipper David Warner to pull off the run chase and keep themselves in the reckoning for a playoff spot.
