Star pacer Harshit Rana opened up on his viral dance reel with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) teammates during the IPL 2024 season. KKR secured their third IPL title in 2024 by defeating SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the final. The pacer revealed that all-rounder Ramandeep Singh had planned the reel.
Ramandeep informed Nitish Rana about the idea, and Nitish’s wife, Saachi Marwah, was also present. Harshit Rana shared that they recorded the video around 2–3 AM at night as per Saachi’s suggestion. He also mentioned that it took several retakes to get the final version right.
“It was a planned reel. Ramandeep planned it. He came and told Nitish Rana. Me, Suyash and Nitish were there. Nitish’s wife was also there. It happened at around 2-3 AM in the night. We were playing pubg. After we finished, she told us the room was empty downstairs and asked us to come make the reel. So then we showered and got ready and went to shoot the reel. It took a lot of retakes as well,” he said on MensXP.
Harshit Rana debuted in the IPL with KKR in 2022. He has appeared in 34 matches so far, claiming 40 wickets. The 24-year-old has quickly earned recognition for his early success and consistent performances. Reflecting on fan interactions, he shared that he enjoys being around people, as it brings him a feeling of accomplishment and validation.
“I like being surrounded by people. I feel like my hard work is paying off. Many times when we go to the washroom, fans take their phone and come behind for pictures. There are many such weird fan moments.”
Harshit Rana recalls his first encounter with a Team India veteran
Harshit Rana also shared his first experience with Team India veteran Rohit Sharma, which happened during the Sri Lanka tour. He recalled that Rohit had just finished batting in the nets and was watching Virat Kohli bat. Harshit approached him and stood beside him, and the veteran ended up talking to him for around 40 minutes.
He added that Rohit has always been supportive of young players in the team and consistently encourages them.
“There is one proud moment with Rohit. My name came for the Sri Lanka tour. He finished batting and was standing behind, watching Kohli bat. So I just went next to him and stood there silently. That was my first time in the team. It was a big thing. Rohit called me and spoke to me for 40 minutes. I felt I was new in the team, so why was he talking to me? But he always encourages youngsters,” he said.
