Marlon Samuels fined for abusing Ben Stokes: Marlon Samuels, the man of the match in the final of the World T20 2016 was on Sunday fined 30 per cent of his match fee for breaching Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct during his side”s clash against England at Eden Gardens.

Marlon Samuels used abusive language during his side”s four-wicket win over England to clinch the sixth edition of the World T20. Samuels was found to have breached Article 2.1.4 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to “using language or a gesture that is obscene, offensive or insulting during an International Match”.

Marlon Samuels admitted the offence and accepted the sanction proposed by match referee Ranjan Madugalle but in the post-match press conference, he opened his heart out and revealed the reason for the heated encounter. “Well he (Stokes) doesn”t learn,” Samuels said. “They keep telling him, whenever he plays against me (they say) “don”t speak to me, because I”m going to perform. I didn”t even face a ball and he had so much to say today so I know that I have to be right there until the end, again”

The incident happened in the final over of West Indies” run-chase when Samuels used abusive and offensive language directed at Ben Stokes.
